The player's counter-punching strategy and frequent outbursts on court had prompted some to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.

But the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional title, took control to create a third set.

The opponent defended 4 early-game chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he secured the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
